Swimming in the Crocodile River

Hi all,
Today is our river side cleaning and looking to the river water that passes near us while working under the African Sun =)
A little bit info about this river:For whom watched Kevin's video, This is the river that he swims with Meg (one of the lionesses). Generally its not advisable to swim in this river due to hygienic (politely) issues.

This is what we did all day and cleaning the litters all around (tires, dolls, plastic bags, shoes and what ever comes to mind...)
Herman the German

But in the afternoon when the job is over "Herman the German" let us swim there even though he was the one who says its better not to do all day =) Depending on his previous speeches about the river none of us bring any swimsuits, but we all manage to swim (except Ernita) somehow =)

Everyday is a magical day here, and I'm having stomach pains as its coming to the end =(

Amazing

Hi,
I've been here for the last two weeks which "amazing" is probably the word that I've used the most...
It's something beyond being in National Geographic =)

Lots happened in this two weeks (Joburg, Soweto, Kruger, Drakensberk, Lesoto, The Kingdom of white lion) and I've lots of extreme nice pictures that I'm planing to share all from my web page when I turn back (even I don't wanna come back)

My intention was writing here everyday but as not everything is under my control this is the first proper connection for me to use internet from the heaven that I'm staying.

We're staying in a marvelous house which is also used in "White Lion. Home... is a journey" by Kevin Richardson. The house is facing with the enclosures of the lions which enables us to hear every Roaring and waking up with them. It gives the feeling as if they are in the garden instead of the enclosures.

Everyday we had an amazing surprise or activity such as:

  1. Saying good morning and taking our first kisses of the day from the wild Hyenas.
  2. Walking with a black leopard or a cheetah
  3. Lions are just majestic and wonderful that there is no need to say more about how amazing they are.

But this is not why we're here. We're here to;
  1. Cut the meat
  2. Feed the preditors
  3. Clean the enclosures
  4. Collect their poo
  5. And much more that makes us to learn behind the scenes.

Here is heaven, just take care wherever you are...

INTRO

I believe that it will be hard for me to reach internet and made changes over my website (http://www.be.itu.edu.tr/~ayda.aktas/Aida). That's the reason why I plan to use this blog site even though I started a blog on my own site.

I can't predict when my next post may be, as there may not be any chance of connecting from Kruger Park in the hearth of wilderness =) Afterward when I move on to the Kingdom of White Lion for volunteering I'll have more opportunity to upload some photos from around...
